Not the b...

Not the best couple of days.androkles continues in poor health and is very low on the mood-swing meter. The tempest in a teapot that he got into on another person’s journal, which was in part a result of his own testy mood but mostly the result a plain nastiness from some fuckchop he has had no previous interaction with, hasn’t been helpful. He was off to the eye-hospital early this morning to see if they can provide some treatment for the painful aftermath of shingles in and around his eye.He needs a lot of support, both physical and spiritual and after my recent bout of ill health. I’ve been feeling that I haven’t been up to par on both fronts. This has caused me to be feeling a bit low too.I sometimes feel that I’m not doing as well as I should but I realise that feeling guilty isn’t going to help and that no-one else is likely to volunteer for the position. Besides, cuddle-wise, the job has its compensations. All the more reason to be thankful to all of you who provided me with such fun in response to the recent “brush with fame” game . It lifted the spirits.I’m finding the California recall saga nearly incredible but then I remember they made Reagan Governor, then President. Arnie wants to savagely cut-back on spending,(read welfare, services, poverty programmes), which will translate as more poverty, more drugs, more crime, more high-security enclaves for the rich, even higher incarceration rates if that’s possible and even more money for cash-strapped superstars). The cost of his teeth alone could pay off the national debt of a small country. In the Us, as here, it seems that when an administration finds that a state or country is living way beyond its means, the first resort is to whack the poor, not the grasping CEO’s or bloated fat-cats. Why shouldn’t the wealthy pay proportionally more for the provision of services to the public?. It’s the same public that comprise the market from which they derive their often obscene benefits. That’s all for now because, as we’ve been told, bellyaching is Bad !!! (Actually, from my observations, it is one of lj’s most beneficial, cathartic, therapeutic functions.)

You definitely both need a good cuddle right now. I hope that this bad spell will blow over soon, beacuse neither of you deserve it. Here's sending warm thoughts and sloppy kisses your way from us and Baxter and Bailety respectively (or maybe it's the other way round . .)

How like you to bring some down-to-Earth common sense to the dicussion.

I certainly will, Van. These strokes from the folks who matter are pulling me out of my self-indulgent doldrums.

Bellyache all you want. We'll listen. :) And give androkles a big hug for me. I hope he feels better soon.

who can we bellyache to, if not to our friend?cyber or r/l? i'm just praying in my Zen Bhuddistway that everyone remembers the 3 magic words nextyear: DON'T VOTE REPUBLICAN! actually, wehave Republicrats here. the wealthy always try tostick it to us, but we can vote them out if only we'll get out there and do it. " The cost of his teeth alone could pay off the national debt of a small country."maybe he could donate that to get California out of debt, then he wouldn't have to savage their economy to do it.just a thought. hang in there. hugs from me and Sue.~paul

give ian a hug for me as well.interesting that people from so far follow our political foibles as well.i've put you on my friend's list as i am looking to expand ...

Hi Greg, glad to have you on my list, will return the favour when I figure out how. I'm a techno slow-learner and Ian believes that self-taught is best. Re: Us knowing about your political foibles,. Well, the US is for better or worse, the only remaining superpower and Arnie's not exactly low-profile, is he?

What is this Californian obsession with launching terrible actors into high political office. Can't they tell the difference between a nazi-sympathizing slice of ham and "The Teminator"?( Its easy to be a tough guy when you're following a script. )I actually like two of his films, but not because of his presence in them. I liked "T1" because of its excellent direction and "True Lies" because Jamie-Lee Curtis lifts almost anything from the pedestrian, (and TL's intriguing premise was stolen from a French film) .Which reminds me of all this French-bashing that's going on there. What short memories. The US may have helped save France in WW11 (which started in 1939...NOT Dec1941 ), but there never would have been a US if France had not rushed to its aid during the American revolution. So there !The hugs couldn't be more timely or appreciated.

Thank-you darling Kitty.I've been a carer now for over 12 years, first for my deceased lover Stephen and now for Ian. I have to admit to an occasional touch of carer fatigue which manifests as irritability. i'll feel better when I feel well enough to get out and about a bit more. I'm still a bit easily tired. There you are, I've taken you up on your offer and produced a bellyache just for you

Steve developed post herpatic neuralgia. He got involved for a time with a chronic pain management center of Beth Israel Hospital that was trying out new treatments for PHN, which provided support and kept him informed of all that was current. This may be a direction to consider if the physicians Ian is seeing even begin to suggest he just "tough it out".My thoughts go out to both of you. Email me if ever you want to.A Federal law excludes non-native citizens from the US Presidency. You'll know that Arnie has serious designs on the White House if there's talk of it being repealed.

I am not sure how to take that..Is it humerous - are you poking fun?Is it serious - am a voice of common sense?Just to be clear... I have taken no offense, I just like clarity,a nd to understand what people think, and how I am perceivedThanks Bill,Jo :-D

Caretaking can be difficult, but I'm sure that you have many, many rewards. I would feel lucky to spend one day with Ian (and you) and you get him all to yourself everyday! ;) Feel free to bellyache all you need to. I know how difficult things can be even when you love someone immensly.

There has already been a bit of "kite-flying" about the possibility of this law being repealed. Normally I'd say it was a good idea, but the thought of President Arnie has changed my mind.Ian got some advice on PHN at the eye hospital today. They are keeping it under observation and considering more aggressive intervention. Thanks for the kind offer to receive e-mails. I have valued your opinion about every subject on which it has been tendered.

To me, sensible does not equate to boring. I just thought it was a sensible comment. We know you're really a wildly irresponsible tear-away, impossibly giddy and flighty. (Sort of like Efine in "Cold Comfort Farm" which, if you haven't read it already, is a very funny little book.)

I think if they couldn't repeal the term limitation for Reagan, Arnie has precious little chance of saying "hasta la vista" to this curious restriction. The only other call for its abolition I've ever heard was from the parent of a Chinese adoptee--a growing special interest group, to be sure, but still a very tiny one.Barring a miraculous improvement in the State of California's finances, I doubt we'll be hearing much about the Kindergarten Cop as a political force five years from now. Frankly, I can't understand why anyone would want that job right now, let alone 135 different people. I guess the unemployment in Lotus-Land is really that bad!

I guess there just wasn't enough fantasy and entertainment in the humdrum lives of the voters of California.
